The Opportunity 

We have an opportunity for a Senior Account Manager to join our team of communication professionals to work on some of the most exciting renewable energy and major infrastructure projects across the UK.

We are looking for someone who is confident, positive, enthusiastic and hardworking. We want someone who likes making decisions, enjoys making things happen and feels at ease when coordinating and planning different activities.

You will have proven experience in developing and managing client, stakeholder and media relationships. You will have a solid understanding of communication and consultation practices and approaches, as well as a keen interest in current affairs. You should have impeccable written and communication skills and be comfortable liaising face-to-face with members of the public and senior stakeholders.

Ideally, you will have a sound background in communications and knowledge of renewable energy and major infrastructure sectors. Knowledge of the planning system and the structures of local government would be helpful. You may have experience working for a comparable agency or in an in-house role in communications, stakeholder engagement or consultation, or you may have transferable skills gained through a career in planning, architecture or local government.

The Role 

You will be a Senior Account Manager in our Energy and Utilities team. This means you will play a leading role in designing and delivering communication activities to support some of the UK’s largest renewable energy and major infrastructure projects.

Your role will involve:

Managing existing client commissions

  • Supported by Directors, leading on the delivery of stakeholder engagement and consultation strategies.

  • Working with Directors to design stakeholder engagement, consultation and PR strategies and activities, based on a sound understanding of the local political and economic context.

  • Managing day-to-day client liaison; stakeholder management; directing the production of communication materials (print and digital); consultation analysis and reporting.

  • Being the senior Counter Context representative at client meetings, stakeholder briefings and consultation events.

  • Managing project finance, budgets and suppliers.

New business development

  • Working with the Directors to create and implement a Business Growth Plan to grow Counter Context’s client base and revenue.

  • Managing proposal documents and pitches for potential client projects.

  • Identifying opportunities and managing relationships with existing clients to grow revenue and cross-sell and up-sell.

  • Attending networking and industry events as the senior Counter Context representative – growing Counter Context’s network and name recognition.

  • Staying well informed about new trends and best practice in consultation and engagement and planning policy, in order to grow Counter Context’s reputation as experts in these areas.

Salary: competitive, depending on experience.

Annual Leave: Minimum of 28 days plus bank holidays.

Flexible Working: We operate a flexible and hybrid working policy. You will have the option of being primarily home or office-based as your usual place of work. We ask that you work from the offices at least 2 days per week to build relationships and check in with colleagues.

You will be supporting projects across the country, with the occasional requirement to travel to meetings and consultation events in the evening and, very rarely, at weekends. When that happens we offer time off in lieu.
