Counter Context was founded in the mid 1990s after the company's founding Directors were approached by a local authority that wanted to understand the difference between effective consultation, market research and traditional public relations.
Our message was simple: effective consultation is not about marketing, market research or lobbying. Instead, effective consultation is ensuring that stakeholders and local communities influence decision-making but recognise the limits of their involvement.
Since then we have enjoyed steady growth as more and more organisations have grown frustrated by poorly designed consultations delaying their projects and upsetting their stakeholders and communities.
