Counter Context is a niche communications company that works for and with local government and private developers. We specialise in designing and delivering innovative communication, consultation and marketing campaigns.
What sets us apart from our competitors is that we actually spend all our time ensuring our clients communicate effectively. This means our website is simple and to the point. Here you can find out about our work and our reputation for being extremely reliable and for delivering high-quality work.
The company was founded in the mid 1990s. Since then we have enjoyed steady growth and increased the number of clients we work for. We like to think this means we are doing something right. Our clients tell us our success is because we really care about our work and we do everything possible to support the people we work for.
Every project is different but we have selected four different examples which give you an idea of the variety of our work. We are protective of our ideas so these case studies are intentionally short. If you want to find out more then please give us a call or send us an email.
Carbon Quids™
In 2007 we designed and piloted the first carbon based currency in the United Kingdom - Carbon Quids™. Carbon Quids™ can be used to incentivise people to think about the environment and make a change; most importantly this innovative idea can be applied in a variety of different circumstances. Carbon Quids™ was first launched in the summer of 2007, and has since won national awards.
Digital Briefings for Politicians
Much of our work is for both local and national government. In many instances we work with our clients to brief politicians on a range of complex projects and issues. In response to client demands, we invented and now deliver unique digital based multimedia briefings at a fraction of the cost of traditional media films. This breakthrough has enabled councillors, MPs and MEPs to be presented with complex issues or schemes in an interesting and engaging way. Our digital briefing products are years in advance of the traditional briefings used throughout government and have been used most successfully as part of the bidding processes for central government funding.
SEMMMS QBC Programme
The development and delivery of a network of Quality Bus Corridors (QBCs) was implemented across South East Manchester as part of the SEMMMS Strategy. The three phase consultation strategy for political involvement and public consultation which was designed and implemented by Counter Context on behalf GMPTE was an important contributor to the successful delivery of this £23 million QBC programme. As a result bus priority measures and other elements of the QBC programme were delivered without any need for a public meeting or confrontation with local communities. The success of this programme exemplifies how the benefits of complex schemes can be communicated successfully to diverse audiences through the use of a range of innovative consultation techniques.
